Campervan Hire Byron Bay – Destination of a lifetime

For those who love campervan hire Byron Bay is the “pick of the litter.” Byron Bay is just about surrounded by around 30 kilometres, or just under 19 miles, of the best beaches on the planet. First, the most easterly beach in Australia – Watego’s Beach – tucked away right under the famous Cape Byron Lighthouse.

Just north a few hundred metres and you can have breakfast or lunch at Clarks Beach. A bit further north, right under the Surf Club, sits Main Beach which merges into the Wreck and Sharkey Beach which in turn stretches down to the Jetty.

The legendary Tallow Beach

Over the other side of Cape Byron, the east side, park your campervan at one of the most amazing stretches of beach you’ll ever come across – Tallow Beach.

From Tallow Beach you come to Seven Mile Beach former home of actress Shirley MacLean, then the nudist’s Kings Beach and finally on to Lennox Head.

And the good news about all these beaches is they are easily accessible in your campervan. There’s no need to grab a four wheel drive – and you’ll definitely rob yourself of holiday quality of you hire a car.

Hiring a campervan means you can see Byron Bay exactly the way it’s meant to be seen. You can camp at any number of terrific van parks in Byron as well:

Pick of the bunch is Clarks Beach Caravan Park, but close behind come First Sun Caravan Park and Cape Byron Van Village.

Beaches are great, but Byron Bay offers much more than that. Have your photo taken in the front of the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest lighthouse – Cape Byron Lighthouse.

Shoot off for to the markets in Bangalow which is about 15 minutes inland and south. Another option is to take the van about 20 minutes north and hit Brunswick Heads – estuary fishing, top parks and yummy restaurants.

As former Byron News owner John Wright once famously said:

“Best beaches in the world, best restaurants in Australia . . . why would you take your campervan anywhere else?”
